Priya
Chauhan

Priya Chauhan is a curator and researcher working at the intersections of art history, lived experience, spatial memory, and cultural inquiry. Her practice is rooted in care, consciousness, and an enduring curiosity about the personal and political lives of objects, spaces, and people.

She studied Art History at the National Museum Institute, New Delhi, and has since worked across institutions and independent projects as a curator, researcher, writer, educator, and program coordinator. Her professional experience includes leading and supporting initiatives at the Museum of Art and Photography (MAP), India Art Fair, Devi Art Foundation, National Museum, New Delhi, National Crafts Museum & Hastkala Akademi, Sahapedia, and the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). She has also worked closely with government cultural bodies including the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and various departments under the Uttar Pradesh State Government, such as the Museums Directorate, Department of Archaeology, and Parliamentary Affairs.

Priya’s work spans exhibitions, public programming, pedagogical modules, institutional research, and editorial writing. She has curated talks programs for large-scale art fairs, led community-centered art education initiatives, written exhibition notes and catalog essays, and taught courses on curation and contemporary Indian art.

She is a member of the British Art Network, ICOMOS India, and Europeana Pro, and continues to collaborate with artists, educators, and researchers on projects that bridge knowledge systems and foster dialogue across disciplines.

Outside of formal spaces, Priya is committed to community animal welfare, and is drawn to ideas of tenderness, nostalgia, and time as a slow curator.
